The 6th Annual Caruso Family Charities Golf Tournament was a huge success. Held at Rolling Hills Country Club, 33 foursomes signed up for one of our biggest fundraisers. The tournament winner was the Roth Distributors foursome (congratulations, guys!) Caruso Family Charities is delighted that $65,000 was raised after expenses. Golfers received several gifts for participating, including a box lunch, a steak dinner, and a stylish Cutter & Buck jacket. Every year, our golfers have received special customized Caruso Family Charities logo apparel for participating in the tournament, including shirts, Bermuda shorts, custom shoes and jackets. It’s easy to spot who has supported the Charity year after year – they come dressed to play in their Caruso-styled attire!
From the Mouths of Babes
Several special guests were introduced who wanted to thank all of YOU for the help generously provided to their families. 8-year-old Bella Hicks and her pal Addison Kleinhans spoke poignantly about how the charity had helped their families while they underwent treatment for cancer. Wonderfully, Bella is now cancer-free. Addison is bravely undergoing one more year of treatment.
Bill Meyn Memorial Scholarship
This year’s scholarship in the amount of $5,000 was awarded to 18-year-old Dustin Beisel, a bright young student who is now studying IT and history at Arapahoe Community College. Dustin and his parents, Kris and Dan Beisel, each spoke about how Caruso Family Charities helped them while Dustin was struggling with cancer and his siblings were doing without new school clothes for years. His mom said the hardest part for her was that Dustin felt responsible for the family’s financial struggles.
Surprising Auction Finish
Rounding out the evening was a very spirited live auction by auctioneer Jim Berz. He quickly had the crowd bidding furiously on several fantastic prizes, including a 7-day trip for two to Cancun. John Theilan was the high bidder for the trip and immediately donated it back to be auctioned off to raise even more money for the Charity. The final bidder for the trip donated it to Kris and Dan Beisel, since they hadn’t had a vacation since Dustin developed his cancer. This generous benefactor wished to remain anonymous.
“I can’t put into words how pleased Karen and I are to have so many supporters of Caruso Family Charities come out to play golf, have some fun, and truly help benefit many families who desperately need assistance.” Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Jerry Caruso
